O, BLESSED CANADA

Patsy Sider-Aspassia Bossota

At the Fifth Public School of Florina
My teacher said to me with sarcasm.
"Your name sounds Bulgarian
I will change it to sound Greek"

Each Macedonian pupil in school
Had a nickname with bright colors.
The teacher with unscrupulousness
He was using vulgar language.

Today I can see clearly the reason
The Greek educators were mistreating the children.
We were Macedonian Ethnicity
People without identification.

In the free world of Canada
The Educational System differs from the Greek system.
The educators do not pay attention for the name or the heritage of the child.
The rights of the student are equally with the rights of the educator.

O, Canada you are a glorious country.
My life changed it is not like used to be.
On your land, live thousands of years old cultures
They sparkle and they will sparkle for ages.

O, Blessed Canada
O, Glorious Canada
Our heritage is Macedonian
We have found our true identification.
