THE MACEDONIAN PRAYER

Patsy Sider-Aspassia Bossota

My memory goes back
To those years that I had no speech.
I loved the Macedonian songs.
The unmerciful Greeks forbade our culture.

Why, why, they took away
The customs which belonged to us?
Why, why, they took away
The language and the scripts which belonged to us?

Discrimination is a mortal disease.
It poison's the mind and the soul.
We search for human rights
We obey the Holy Word.

Rise, O, Macedonian children
To hear how melodious the birds sing.
The almond trees and the flowers are blooming.
The happiest and brightest days are ahead of us.

Rise, O, Macedonian children
Seek for our Historic Heritage.
Your education speaks like a thunder.
We live in a civilized and a glittering age.

Rise, O, Macedonian children
Now you have a fortissimo speech.
AII the people are searching for human rights.
They live all over the world.

Rise, 0, Macedonian children
Demand for our culture
The scripts of the Saints, Cyril and Methody
The heirlooms of Phillip, the hidden true.

Rise, O, Macedonian children
Hold your head high with confidence.
We are moral, having the Lord inside us
And the world is sending us, warm wishes.

Rise, O, Macedonian children
Seek for Archimandrite Nikodime Tsarknias.
Longevity to you, Archimandrite Nikodime Tsarknians
Chant your psalms softly in Macedonian Church.
